Education That Fits Real Life
Modari was built around a simple idea — that spending thoughtfully should be taught the same way a craft is taught: hands-on, step by step, and with a bit of encouragement along the way.
Back to HomeA Workshop Born in Johor Bahru
Modari started in 2019 when a small group of adult-education facilitators in Johor Bahru noticed a gap: plenty of general finance information existed online, but very little of it was grounded in the day-to-day realities of Malaysian households — local market prices, ringgit-denominated decisions, and the social norms around spending that shape how people actually behave.
The founders drew on backgrounds in adult education and community facilitation to design short, workshop-style sessions that felt more like a craft class than a lecture. The focus was always on doing — filling in actual tally sheets, walking through real swap examples, and leaving with something tangible to try that week.
Since then, Modari has grown steadily through word of mouth in the Johor Bahru community. We now offer three structured formats, from a half-day introduction to a ten-week foundations course, all held at our premises at Komtar JBCC. Our approach remains the same: calm, practical, and always respectful of where each participant is starting from.
Our Mission
To make general financial education accessible, practical, and culturally relevant for everyday Malaysians — delivered in a warm, low-pressure environment.
Our Vision
A Malaysia where thoughtful daily spending is seen as a valued life skill — taught, practised, and shared across communities rather than left to individual trial and error.
Our Values
Respect for each participant's situation. Honest, general information only. Practical over theoretical. Community over competition.
Meet Our Facilitators
Our team brings together adult-education experience, community knowledge, and a genuine interest in helping people spend more thoughtfully.

Our Standards & Practices
Adult Learning Principles
All programmes are designed using established adult-education frameworks. Participants learn by doing, reflecting, and discussing — not by being lectured at.
General Education Only
Modari is a financial education provider, not a licensed financial adviser. All content is kept firmly within the scope of general public information about spending and saving habits.
Participant Privacy
Personal information shared during sessions stays within the group. We do not share participant details with third parties and handle all registration data in line with Malaysia's Personal Data Protection Act.
Regular Content Review
Our materials are reviewed quarterly to ensure examples, prices, and habit suggestions stay current with local Malaysian conditions and relevant to daily spending realities.
Participant Feedback Loop
Every session ends with a short feedback form. We read every response and use it to adjust content, delivery, and group size for upcoming cohorts.

Thoughtful Spending Education in Johor Bahru
Modari operates at the intersection of practical education and everyday Malaysian life. Our workshops draw on real local spending contexts — warung meals, monthly utility bills, weekly wet-market trips — because abstract theory rarely changes behaviour. When participants recognise their own habits in the examples, the learning lands differently.
The frugal living space is often cluttered with content that promises dramatic transformation. Modari's position is quieter: we believe small, consistent shifts in spending awareness add up over time. Our role is to give people clear frameworks, honest information, and a supportive group context to work through their own patterns at their own pace.
Based in Johor Bahru and serving participants from across Johor, Modari has built its reputation on straightforward communication, well-prepared materials, and facilitators who respect that every person's financial situation is different. We keep group sizes small, keep our language plain, and keep our focus on what participants can do — not on what they should have done differently.
